I must apologize for the LONG hiatus from blog posts, my handmade lovin' friends. As I've mentioned before, I tend to do most of my Sew Dandee updates on Facebook and Instagram so hopefully you're all following me there, too.
That being said, here is a wee update on where you'll be able to find me in person before the year ends! I'm SO very pumped and honored that I was accepted into the Etsy: Made in Canada Market to be held on Saturday September 26th here in Winnipeg! Last year was the most epic, emotional and amazing sale I've done in my entire career. Having closed my storefront only the day before the sale, it was just what I needed to get my new way of doing Sew Dandee business started. We had over 3000 people coming through the doors which not only made for a very successful sale but also warmed our hearts that so many local people came out to support us makers and vintage curators. So, thanks for that!
This year is sure to be another fantastic event and I'm especially excited to see the heritage building it's being held in. You'll find almost 70 makers and vintage collectors in the magnificent Neeginan Centre at 181 Higgins just off Main Street in downtown Winnipeg. The spacious, regal room will allow ample space for a comfortable, easy shopping experience. Be sure to spread the word and bring the whole family! I'll be there with all of my silk screened dish towels, onesies and bibs along with my ever growing line of snarky/sweet greeting cards. If you've got anything in particular you want to pick up from me at the sale, just pop me an email asap and I'll make it happen!

Last few days at the #ExchangeUporium!
I hope you're all having a relaxing, healthy, love filled holiday season, my friends. It's been a whirlwind year of big changes for me and Sew Dandee and despite the slightly stressful bits, I'm so grateful for every moment of it. I have to thank each and every one of you for being such supportive, loving and inspiring people in my lives. You've each helped me get where I am and feel confident to take on this new evolution of what Sew Dandee is today.
And to say thank you, all of my items at the Exchange Uporium Pop Up Shop are 10% off starting today until the last day of this edition of the pop up shop which is Tuesday December 30th. I hope you'll all head down to beautiful 264 McDermot in the Exchange and load up on some of my made with love creations!
Once we load up our displays and clear out the beautiful space we've been calling home at the Exchange Uporium, the new year planning begins! I don't know what's to come but I'll be sure to keep you all up to date on any pop up shops, markets and new shops I hope to be selling my wares in. The best place to stay up to date on all things Sew Dandee and handmade is to follow me on Facebook. Be sure to hit the 'like' button here and there and leave a comment if you feel so inclined otherwise my posts will stop showing up in your newsfeed. :( I'm also on Twitter and Instagram, too and of course you can always shop my online shop on Etsy where I ship worldwide.
And if you didn't already know, I still offer all kinds of custom silk screening of my designs along with any alterations or mending you might need done. Just pop me an email at sewdandee at gmail dot com or call me directly at 204-293-4340.
Be well and all the best in 2015!

Sew Dandee is heading to Wolseley, #Winnipeg!
This Saturday I'll be setting up my wares at the Annual Fall Sale at R.A. Steen Community Centre from 10am to 4pm along with a whole bunch of other local makers and it would be great to see your awesome faces there! Come on down to 980 Palmerston and hang out and pick up some handmade treasures!
And if you're looking to get some shirts or other items silk screened with one of my MANY designs, this is a great opportunity to drop off your item to pick up at a later date. We've still got plenty of time to get something made for a gift for the holidays!

Whoops!
I've been meaning to do a post about a lovely wee blurb in the CAA Magazine, Going Places that came out recently that mentioned Sew Dandee but with some misinformation. Just to clear things up, the photo is actually showing my dish towels, not my t-shirts and I don't actually have any of my items available at Silver Lotus. A bit of miscommunication with the writer of the article, unfortunately. That being said, I do still offer custom silk screening of my designs on t-shirts as well as tote bags, pillow cases, you name it! You supply the items you want to be silk screened and I adorn said item with one of my designs of your choosing! Easy peasie!
So, do make a trip down to Silver Lotus and check out their beautiful shop but if you're looking to get some of my work, just pop down to the Exchange Uporium or Generation Green at the Forks or send me a direct email at sewdandee at gmail dot com and I'll take care of you.

Tiz the season!
Well, the snow is on the ground, the air is crisp and the decorations are up! There's no denying it. The holiday season is here! Whether you're a fan of all the hoopla that goes along with Christmas or you loath all things Xmas related, it's always the time of the year to treat yourself or a loved one to something handmade, don't ya think?? I sure do!
So, if you're looking for a great gift or something for yourself, I hope you'll give my Etsy shop a gander (I ship worldwide, my friends!) or head down to the Exchange Uporium which is now extended until December 30th for all your pre and post holiday shopping needs or come find me at the R.A. Steen Community Centre Fall Sale this coming Saturday Nov. 22nd from 10am to 4pm at 980 Palmerston in Wolseley or you can always find my dish towels, aprons, onesies, cards and much more at Generation Green at the Forks.
If it's just my cards including my awesome selection of holiday cards featuring some of the best quotes from A Christmas Story, National Lampoons Christmas Vacation and Elf as well as my own personal Christmassy inspired cards like 'I'm dreaming of a white Christmas! Is that racist??' and 'Santa vs. Jesus. Who will win the battle this year?' and many more, you can find them at Tara Davis Studio Boutique and I now have a selection of my silk screened dish towels and cards available at Chocolatier Constance Popp in St. Boniface.
And if you need to get that party dress altered or those dress pants hemmed, I'm still your girl for all things fixy! Just pop me an email at sewdandee at gmail.com and let me know what you need. We can arrange a pick up and drop off that is convenient for you so don't hesitate to get in touch with any alteration, mending or custom sewing requests you might have.
Spread the handmade word!

And as you may already know, I've had a spot set up at the pop up shop in the Exchange District, Exchange Uporium since the beginning of October and will be there until the end of December. This spot has the most of my stock on hand including all of my onesies, pins and magnets, dish towels, cards and aprons. It's located at 264 McDermot between King and Arthur. I've also got a bunch of my items at Generation Green at The Forks, Chocolatier Constance Popp and my cards are at Tara Davis Studio Boutique.
Do let me know if there's anything you need me to make, mend or silk screen for you as these craft sales and the Exchange Uporium are all great meet up spots to pick up and drop off any custom work so pop me an email at sewdandee at gmail dot com and we'll make it happen!

After eight awesome and inspiring years, I've been given a great opportunity to re-imagine how Sew Dandee functions here in Osborne Village and I want to celebrate with all of you, my fine, devoted, beautiful customers and friends!
Though I will no longer have my store front, I will still very much have a presence here in the Village but in order to make room for Rooster Shoes who will be moving into my space after some much needed renos, I need to move some treasures and handmade goodness into their new homes. That's where YOU come in!
Join me in celebrating my time here at 105 Osborne by taking advantage of some amazing deals on handmade and gently worn items along with some store fixtures and displays. Starting Monday September 22nd thru to my last day, Friday September 26th, almost everything in the shop will be priced to GO! Even if you don't need anything, I'd love to see your smiling faces and thank you in person for making my time here so magical and special to me. I'll miss you guys!
Be sure to continue to follow my Sew Dandee page to find out where I'll be next and when I'll have my silk screened items, my cards and my sewing machines set up in the Village again for you to pay me a visit and get your Sew Dandee fix!

It's time, #Winnipeg. The evolution of Sew Dandee is about to begin!
It’s with a heavy yet FULL heart that I deliver this news. As of the end of September, Sew Dandee will no longer have a storefront in Osborne Village. I have to lead with the very important bit of info being that I will still have a presence here in the village thanks to a much respected and loved fellow business owner, Judy of Silver Lotus and Rooster. She has presented me with the most amazing and exciting opportunity that I’m thrilled to transition into! Come October 1st, she will be the new tenant at 105 Osborne where she plans to do some much needed renovations which will include opening up the archway between her shop, Silver Lotus and her new space that will not only be the new home of Rooster but will also host my line of silk screened items, cards and even a sewing space so I can continue to offer alterations and custom sewing to you fantastic people. In addition, she is also going to continue to carry Just the Goods in the Silver Lotus space which is GREAT news! I can’t begin to express how grateful I am to Judy for giving me the chance to stay connected to you, my awesome customers. So, next time you see her at Silver Lotus, be sure to give her a high five for supporting local makers!
Now, the heavy heart part is a big one for me and at some point, I will be one big puddle of sad when the time comes to close the Sew Dandee doors at 105 Osborne for the last time. These past eight years have been filled with so much creative energy, inspiration, challenges, successes and above all, friendships and connections that I hold so close to my heart. Without all the incredible makers that have graced the space of Sew Dandee over the years, I wouldn’t have been able to do what I truly love for a living. You have all made Sew Dandee... Sew Dandee! Your support as makers and as customers has meant everything to me and for that I am forever grateful. I don’t see this as the end but the evolution of my handmade life and I still see all of you very much a part of it. I’m truly sorry I couldn’t make it work even longer and it breaks my heart that I won’t be able to share your creations with the world from my big little shop on Osborne. But know that no matter what venue or capacity that I will continue making and selling from, I will ALWAYS be your biggest supporter and cheerleader in the quest to spread the handmade word.
And YOU! My cherished, devoted customers! YOU are everything! (p.s. I have a card that says just that that I should send to each and every one of you). So many of you have been supporters of the shop from the start, always giving me that pep talk I need , reminding me that what I’m doing is bringing happiness and smiles to a lot of faces and my best part of my day, hearing you guys giggle at my card rack. Thank you doesn’t seem like enough for all that you’ve done for me. My biggest hope is that you’ll all continue to support your local makers (including me at Silver Lotus, Rooster, Generation Green, The Exchange Uporium and Tara Davis Boutique!) and seek them out whenever you need that special, made with love item. We’re out there and waiting to make just for YOU! The amount of markets, pop-up shops and craft sales is ever increasing in this artistic, creative city of ours so we won’t make it too hard to find us. Promise.
As for the logistics of this whole evolution, the shop will remain open until the end of September so come use up your store credit, take advantage of some sweet, mega deals or just come say HI! I’d love to see your smiling faces. Come October 1st, Judy will get a hold of the space and make it all shiny new. Hopefully it’ll be ready to reopen to the public for November where you’ll find, in addition to all the awesomeness that is Rooster, all of my silk screened items, cards and my sewing machines ready to hem those pants, take in that dress and sew on those buttons! And while you’re waiting for that big reveal, you can find my work over at The Exchange Uporium from October 1st thru December 26th among some of Winnipeg’s finest makers which I am SO thrilled to be a part of. My Etsy shop is ALWAYS open and will soon And just like right now, you can find a good chunk of my stuff at Generation Green at The Forks and Tara Davis Boutique in the Exchange as well as a new location that I’m in talks with to carry my work as well! As for alterations and custom sewing, I’ll be working something out with Judy for the month of October where you can drop off/pick up alterations a day or two a week at Silver Lotus so I’ll keep you posted on when we sort out those details. And as always, I’ll be keeping you all up to date right here on my Facebook page where you can contact me anytime! And if you're not of the Facebook variety, pop me an email anytime at sewdandee@gmail.com and I'll be sure to get back to you asap.
If you’re still reading this, you’re awesome. I love you all and look forward to sharing this next adventure of Sew Dandee with all of you!

The New Face of Sew Dandee, #Winnipeg!

Where these changes will take me, exactly has yet to be determined but in the meantime, I'm making some visual changes at the shop in an effort to make things easier for you find and giving you MORE silk screen designs to choose from for your custom printed shirts, tote bags, pillow cases, onesies, dish towels and whatever else you can think of!
I've been SO lucky to have my good friend and fellow designer, Lisa bring in her students who are studying fashion to help me give the shop a facelift and introduce me to new ideas for displays and merchandising. They've done an amazing job! You should come down to the shop and see for yourself!

It's that time of year again, my friends! Time to sport your best red and white threads and head on down to Osborne Village for some good times and sweet deals! This year, at Sew Dandee, I'm doing a massive purge of all kinds of awesome goodies with our tent sale starting at 11am Tuesday July 1st in front of the shop.

What's new for you, #Winnipeg!
After so many long, heartbreaking, sad, uplifting and bonding conversations with many local folks over the past few months about this enduring winter weather and the effects it's had on all of us, these new silk screen designs were born. I don't have a lot of things made yet with these designs on them but feel free to bring me a blank shirt and I'd be more than happy to screen one of these very honest and accurate designs onto it for you!
This weekend a very successful local maker, Amanda of Elskan dropped off some of her incredibly adorable reversible kids and grown up collars in the coolest fabrics! They're the ideal accessory if you're looking for a bit of OMG THAT'S SO CUTE to add to your outfits.

Mother's Day gift ideas, #Winnipeg!
So, Mom's Day is just a few days away, my friends and what better way to show that special woman who wiped your ass, filled your belly with sustenance and washed your skivvies than to get her a one of a kind handmade gift made with as much love as she's always given you. Sew Dandee has you covered no matter what your Momma is in to. Be it knitting, cycling, drinking tea, moisturizing her face, squeezing cute stuffies, bathing, carrying stuff around in a bag, wearing a pretty dress, showing her love of Winnipeg, appreciating quirky artwork, baking up some cupcakes or laughing at a smart ass joke. Seriously. We've got that. And we're open late Thursday and Friday as well as from 10am to 6pm Saturday and 12 noon to 5pm Sunday. Get on down here and show that woman some love!
